SCHEME OF SENIOR CITIZEN MONTHLY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (ABASS-SCMFA)

Introduction to Scheme

The scheme is aimed at ABASS, Bhopal members residing in Bhopal who fulfill the following eligibility criteria to avail of the scheme.

Objective of the Scheme

To provide financial assistance to senior citizens who are members of ABASS, Bhopal and fulfill the conditions mentioned for target beneficiaries under the scheme.

Target Beneficiaries & Extent of Financial Help

Senior citizens, as defined in the eligibility criteria, who are suffering from disability or serious illness and require regular medical support, and whose children are not supportive in nursing and caring for them, are the target beneficiaries.

Under this scheme, a financial assistance of Rs. 1,000/- per month shall be remitted to the identified beneficiary through their bank account.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Male members who have attained the age of 60 years and female members who have attained the age of 58 years shall be considered senior citizens under the scheme.
  2. Beneficiaries must be members of ABASS, Bhopal.
  3. Applicants having employed sons or unmarried daughters with employment are not eligible. However, if such employed children are reluctant to look after their aged parents, such parents may apply under the scheme.
  4. Applicants retired from Government service and drawing pension of more than Rs. 1,500/- per month, or as per Government directives, are not eligible under the scheme.
  5. Applicants shifted to an old-age home are eligible under the scheme.
  6. Applicants suffering from disability or requiring medical support due to serious illness, and who are not covered under any Government medical scheme, hospital scheme, or company scheme, and whose children are not supportive in nursing them, are eligible to avail of the scheme.

Monitoring & Management

For the monitoring and management of the scheme, the ABASS Executive Committee shall constitute a Sub-Committee called the Welfare Schemes Monitoring Committee (WSMC) consisting of five members under the Convenorship of the Secretary.

The four members other than the Convenor shall be nominated by the Executive Committee. A member who is not part of the Executive Committee may also be nominated. The tenure of the Sub-Committee shall run parallel to the tenure of the Executive Committee.

Documents Required

  1. Application in the Sangham’s prescribed format.
  2. Copy of Bank Passbook.
  3. Copy of Aadhaar Card.
  4. Recommendation from the Chief Priest of the Malayalee Temple nearest to the applicant’s place of residence in Bhopal.
  5. Visit report of the Sangham Committee team after verification of the application and recommendation.

Budget

Once the scheme is implemented, it shall remain open for beneficiaries. The Executive Committee of ABASS Bhopal shall decide whether to continue or discontinue the scheme based on the availability of budget and funding.

Bank Account

The Sangham shall open and operate a separate bank account for the scheme.

Proposed Funding Pattern

Funding for running the scheme shall be through:

  • Donations from members
  • Contributions from well-wishers
  • Sponsorships
  • ABASS branch contributions
  • Other voluntary contributions
