AKHILA BHARATHA AYYAPPA SEVA SANGHAM, BHOPAL

SCHEME OF SCHOOL EDUCATION ASSISTANCE FOR CHILDREN (ABASS-EASC)

Introduction to Scheme

The scheme is aimed at children of poor and underprivileged families who find it difficult to meet their children’s school education expenses such as textbooks, notebooks, school shoes, school bags, school fees, raincoats, etc.

As a result of these financial difficulties, many children are forced to discontinue their studies or are pushed into child labour or other anti-social activities instead of growing up as responsible citizens.

Objective of the Scheme

To provide necessary support in the form of:

  • Subsidized school fees
  • Textbooks
  • Notebooks
  • School uniforms
  • School bags
  • Shoes and sandals
  • Other essential educational materials

for poor and underprivileged school childre

Target Beneficiaries of Student

  • A case study and survey conducted by the Sangham team has revealed that a large number of poor and underprivileged students residing in slum areas and living in extreme poverty are unable to meet even the basic requirements for school education.

Many students face difficulties in obtaining:

    • School fees
    • Textbooks
    • Notebooks
    • School bags
    • School shoes
    • Other educational necessities

The attached photographs reportedly show children attending school without proper footwear and basic educational materials. In many cases, due to the inability to afford these essentials, children discontinue their education.

The survey team of ABASS Bhopal observed that if the Sangham comes forward with assistance for these basic requirements, the dropout rate may reduce and the beneficiaries will continue their education.

ABASS can meet such expenses from:

    • School fee support
    • Cost of textbooks
    • Notebooks
    • Shoes and sandals
    • Uniforms

based on approved budget and funding.

The Branch Committee of ABASS may decide from time to time which items are to be provided to needy students based on requirement, availability of budget, and funding received.

Eligibility Criteria of Students

To begin with, assistance under the scheme shall be provided to poor and underprivileged students residing in slum areas.

The tenure of the Sub-Committee shall run parallel to the tenure of the Executive Committee.
