SCHEME OF SCHOOL EDUCATION ASSISTANCE  FOR CHILDREN ( ABASS-EASC)

Introduction to Scheme

The Scheme is aimed at Children of poor and under privileged families who finds it difficult to send their children to school due to their inability to meet school education expenses like expenses on text books, note-book, school shoe, school bag, school fee, rain coat etc. and as a result, the children in most of the cases turned or pushed into child labour or they become anti-social elements instead of growing up as a responsible citizen. 

Objective of the scheme

To provide necessary support in the form of subsidized school fee, cost of text book, note-book, uniform, school bag, shoes/sandal etc.to poor and under-privileged schools children.    

Target beneficiaries of student

A case study and survey conducted by the Sangham team, it has been taken on record that, a number of  poor/underprivileged students who are residing in  slums and due to  extreme poverty of their parents, the children resorted to avoid schooling, on account of their inability to meet even subsidized tuition fee, other basic requirement for school,  like uniform, test book, note-book, school bag, school shoe etc. The attached photographs itself shows that the children attends the school without shoe/sandal, wearing even torn-out cloths, or cloths they received by donation. The survey team of ABASS Bhopal observed that, if the  Sangham come forward with assistance for above basic requirements, the dropped out children may resume schooling and  they will be the real beneficiaries beyond any doubt. ABASS can meet expenses on school fee, cost of text book, note-book, shoe/sandal, uniform, school bag, rain coat etc to these students in the years to come subject to availability of budget and funding. The Branch Committee of ABASS may decide as to which items the ABASS to provide to these poor children on the basis of need and requirement keeping in mind ABASS’s approved budget and funding received.

Eligibility criteria of students

To start with the scheme, eligibility criteria of students to receive the assistance can be poor/under-privileged students residing in slums. The Sangham can directly identify such beneficiaries and provide them such assistance in the area of operations of the Sangham, based on approved budget and funding received.     

Monitoring & Management:

For the monitoring and management of the Scheme, ABASS Executive Committee will constitute a Sub-Committee called “Welfare Schemes Monitoring Committee (WSMC)” consisting of five members under the Convenorship of the Secretary. The four members other than Convenor shall be nominated by the Executive Committee, where a member who is not in the Executive Committee may also be nominated. The tenure of the Sub-Committee shall run parallel to the tenure of Executive Committee

Documents required

Sangham may seek a list of student who needs SOS assistance, and provide the items as per approved budget and funding created by the Sangham.  If there is any balance amount in the budget under   skill development scheme, that can also be transferred to school education assistance project.  

Bank account:

The Sangham will open and operate a separate bank account for the scheme.

Budget:

Once the scheme is implemented, the same will be open for beneficiaries and the Executive Committee of ABASS Bhopal will decide whether to continue or discontinue the scheme based on availability of budget and funding.

Proposed Funding pattern:

Funding for running the scheme shall be through donations from members, well-wishes, sponsorships, ABASS branch contribution,  etc.
